Dr. Serra Acar is an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She has worked in the field of early intervention/early childhood special education (EI/ECSE) for more than 10 years. Her research includes culturally and linguistically responsive assessment, executive function and bilingual/dual language learners, and personnel preparation in EI/ECSE.

Dr. Acar has conducted several studies examining executive function skills of young children who are low birth weight and/or preterm. She also examines best practices for supporting executive function skills of dual language learners with special needs. She is a Member-at-Large of the Division for Early Childhood of the Council for Exceptional Children.
