Hi and welcome to the Fostering Success Summit!

Just a little about me:

I am dedicated to improving the lives of children and families through research, teaching, and service. I have been a member of academic, governmental, and private research teams since 1995. I also worked extensively in direct service of children and families as a parent educator, home visitor, and therapeutic foster parent. A year ago, I had the opportunity to embark on a world-schooling adventure with my teenage son, husband, and two dogs.

Our journey took us to the mountains of Michoacán, Mexico. There I found inspiration and the luxury of time required to create content to help bridge the gap between research and practice. This summit has been a big part of that goal!

In addition to several articles, which were submitted to peer review journals, I recently finished the first draft of a young adult novel – Mi vida. My sorrow. Mi libertad (working title) – which shares a Chicana’s turbulent journey through foster care and her triumphs as she  “ages out” of the system. My goal is to see the book published in 2019!
