Kristy resides in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with her husband and 7 year old daughter with adopted through foster care with Children’s Services. Kristy is a registered social worker and works as a medical/palliative counsellor with individuals, couples, and families. She is trained in Dr. Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT); Eye Movement and Desensitization Training (EMDR) ; Niemeyer’s Grief Therapy; Dignity Therapy; Gottman’s Couples Therapy; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); and Cybercounselling.

Kristy’s hope in writing her book, Healing with Pigtails: Finding Hope in the Hard of Therapeutic Parenting, is to bring about awareness of the emotional and psychosocial experience of parenting adoptive children. She is very passionate about bringing together personal and professional networks to support adoptive children and their families. In her book she strives to help families find the layers of hope while navigating developmental trauma and adoption.
